Our Philosophy

Swimming is one of the most fundamental and joyful of all activities. It is a life skill that provides the basic building blocks for all other types of sports and activities such as flexibility, balance, strength, endurance and safety.

DolFUN SWIM Academy programs incorporate Multi-faceted disciplines and certifications from national and international sources: Birthlight of England, United States Swim School Association, Red Cross, Arthritis Foundation, Yoga, Au-Chi and Watsu to ensure the leading edge in technique and holistic approaches.

Our families join us through the adventure into a unique aquatic developmental program. Using song and games to reinforce new skills.

Our 92 degree pools are ideal for Infants to Seniors, where we offer a safe environment to have a fun positive water experience, enjoy exercise, and provide a space to prevent and/or rehabilitate injuries.

Each individual will experience the ultimate in well-being that the water has to offer.

Thank you for joining our DolFUN Family. We appreciate the opportunity to share with you in creating a safe, fun and joyful educational experience in the water.

Our DolFUN Method

DolFUN's multi-faceted disciplines include this basic approach, placing an emphasis on the learner's natural relationship with the water and uses the qualities of that relationship as one's primary safety device.

A child learns to focus on mastering the water's natural forces to influence brain development and aquatic comfort.

From these postures children (and beginning adults mastering water fear) can first learn to manage aquatic forces for safety and then propulsion.

Incorporated into our method is the Swimplicity® approach which is an environmentally accurate Learn to Swim program curriculum created by Edie Flood, Milt Nelms, and Bill Boomer-United States Olympics coach.

"I am the founder of DolFUN. I am married and a mother Spencer and Bryce, step mother to Forrest, Jacob and Jessilyn.
I don't remember learning to swim, I do remember at the age five, my mother being successful at begging the swim team coach to let me on the team. In 1994, I re-discovered my love of the water when I started Aqua-Tot classes with my first son Spencer when he was only 18 months old. A passion was instilled in me to inspire other families with infants on why and how it is safe to bring them back to the water after their birth. My enthusiasm began to grow for educating all ages, all stages and all abilities in the water. I then began my journey in establishing DolFUN SWIM Academy and creating a SAFE, FUN and JOYful aquatic environment where families can gain a positive experience through water safety and learning to swim. I am dedicated for life to passing on the blessings that this wonderful world of water has offered myself and others. I am intent on teaching families about all the layers of drowning prevention and that swimming lessons may be an important layers of protection.
I am privileged to be surrounded by an amazingly talented, knowledgeble, devoted and loving staff, we graciously call our DolFUN Pod"

"I met Debbie, the owner in 2002 when I enrolled with my first child in the Aqua Babies class. I was immediately hooked. I am a mother of Dominique, Thomasina and Sterling and they have all gone through the DolFUN Aqua Babies and learn to swim program. I've swam competitively all my life and now I get to teach what comes naturally to myself and children. I have the privilege every day to spend time with many incredible children. Over the two to five years of teaching a child, I get to be a part of them developing, maturing and growing into confident and amazing little people and young adults. I feel like I have many second families. I also love developing and teaching our teachers to teach. Everyday teaching at the pool has an amazing moment. This is a job that is challenging and also keeps me smiling and laughing throughout the day, I couldn't ask for a better job."

"I have had the good fortune to be working with DolFUN since October of 2009. I am a mother of three girls and a step-son who keeps my life busy and very fulfilled. I have been teaching for over 10 years at a local Pre-School. My love of the water started very young and I am overjoyed to share that joy not only with my own children, but those of our DolFUN families. I believe in the many benefits that the water has to offer for all ages. I love being an educator for the DolFUN levels of Aqua Babies, Water Safety and the Learn to Swim programs. I love being a part of helping a child work through a skill that seems challenging at first, then they practice, practice, practice and they master that skill. My work day (feels like a play day too) are filled with many joyful moments."

"I am the mother of two beautiful pre-school children, Hunter and Paige. I starting working for DolFUN SWIM Academy in early 2006. As soon as I first saw the program that DolFUN provided, I was hooked. I began to soak up all the information that I could about the techniques and beliefs that Debbie has designed into a wonderful program. After working with DolFUN and learning all that I have, I can not imagine working for any other swim school program. I love working with all of our "pod of aquatic educators" because, I know that their first priority is the well being of each and every precious student that we have the privileged of being able to teach. I believe that DolFUN has the very best approach , to teach our students water safety, swimming skills and the pure joy of being in the water. Over all my goal for every student that I have the privileged of teaching is that they learns to love to BE in the water, learns to swim and knows how to be safe around the water too."

"I am married and the mother of two amazing kids, Samantha and Shawn. I have been involved in the swimming world since I was 6 years old. first as a competitive swimmer, in high school and college as a lifeguard, and Water Safety Instructor. I took a few years away from the pool to get married and be home with my kids. When my daughter started swimming for a local team in the second grade, I was inspired to get back in the pool. With the help of the local Masters team, I started competing again. I have gone to two National meets at the masters level. I am truly amazed by the people I have met there who are lifelong swimmers. There is nothing more inspiring than watching someone who is 99 swim a 200 IM! I joined DolFUN in May of 2011 because their philosophy is to create lifelong safer swimmers. The water is such an amazing place to be in, my family joke around our house is that when mom is in a bad mood, send her to the pool. I am truly blessed to be in a position where I get to pass on my love of the water and watch that love grow in the children that I have the privilege of teaching."

TESTIMONIALS

"My son started with DolFUN at 4 months old, he's now almost 3 1/2 yrs. I can't say enough about this wonderful program. Every week he amazes me with new skills. His independence and confidence in the water is fantastic. Miss Diana is great. She is patient with the kids, but firm. We've had other teachers in the past who were equally great. All are very knowledgeable about child development. It is more expensive than your community center pool, but worth every penny. This is much more than a mommy & me type swim lesson. Plus, the pool is nice and warm here.... I always leave the community center pool with blue lips and shivering little boys."
